31. Rebuke

I struggle with negative self-talk. It’s not hard for my thoughts to spiral into a very mean place. Unfortunately, for some reason those are often the thoughts that stick. My negative self-talk can be debilitating at times because it causes me to forget who I am. Here’s the thing though, those thoughts are not an accurate representation of reality. I constantly have to rebuke my negative self-thoughts and call them what they really are – lies.

My identity, value, and purpose do not come from what I think about myself or even from what other people think about me. Instead, my identity, my value, and my purpose comes from God. The Bible says God equips me, strengthens me, and walks beside me. He created me with a purpose and He will be there to help me along the way.

Why would I ever believe that I was alone in this life?

I want to remind you of who you are in case you may have also believed some of the lies.

You are not useless.

You are not hopeless.

You are not worthless.

You are not a mistake.

You are not an accident.

You are not disposable.

You are not replaceable.

You are not dispensable.

You were created on purpose, for a purpose.

The next time negative self-talk tries to lie to you, rebuke it. Don’t forget who God says you are. Don’t forget that you are never alone. All of that negative self-talk creates nothing but bondage. There is freedom in believing the truth.

Love,

Redeemed Mama
