Repudiate (verb) to reject with denial.
I saw a viral video posted by Becky Martin last week of a her sharing her story. She found out she was pregnant in high school and was faced with a big decision. The video closed caption asks if she wanted to have an abortion – the Becky points to yes. Next, the closed caption asks if she wants to see what she would be missing out on by following through with aborting her baby. Multiple pictures flash across the screen of her son who grows up to serve in the military and gets engaged to the girl of his dreams. Becky would have missed out on so much if she had aborted her baby.
It was a powerful video. It got me thinking what I would have missed out on had I had an abortion.
I would have missed out on:
- Him gripping my finger as he lay on my chest after he was born.
- His first smile, crawl, steps, and words.
- His grin that goes all the way up to his eyes as he runs towards me when I pick him up after work.
- Him singing songs while he plays at the park.
- His squeal of excitement as he masters a new skill.
- His big heart and strong will.
- His kindness, loyalty, and thoughtfulness.
Supporters of abortion don’t tell the whole truth. They say abortion “fixes all your problems.” However, the reality is abortion ends a life that had a purpose. You will never get to experience all that your child was going to be. Never get to see who your child becomes. Never get to experience the joy of seeing your child grow up.
Because I did not follow through with my abortion, I get to be a mother to an incredible little boy. He brings so much joy to my life and to the lives of so many others. My son didn’t end my purpose – he enhanced it. He gave me a new calling. Had I listened to the lies of the abortion industry and repudiated the baby inside my womb, I would have missed out on so much more than I could ever imagine.
Love,
Redeemed Mama
